OneDX Platform Empowers Patients on Provider Portals
Outside the physician’s office, patients can manage their lives at their fingertips with smart phones, Tweets, and texts. What if they could achieve a similar degree of convenience in handling medical matters?
Portals that allow patients to only schedule appointments, read messages, and make payments do not go far enough; patients want access to comprehensive online medical snapshots that can be viewed securely at any time, and shared with primary and consulting physicians from any place.
OneDX® allows health providers to give patients what they want in this case by transforming traditional patient portals into single sign-on access points spanning entire patient health profiles, diagnostic reports, and radiology images. The platform integrates with all Electronic Health Record Systems (EHR), Radiology Information Systems (RIS), Lab Information Systems (LIS) and Picture Archive Communication Systems (PACS), allowing patients to securely view files from these sources using any smart device or internet browser.
Portals with integrated OneDX functionality give health providers a distinct way to stand out from the crowd and focus on patients who search online specifically for health care providers furnishing self-service portals with comprehensive offerings. A 2015 study by the American College of Surgeons found that most patients who had routine operations preferred online communication to an in-person visit after the procedure. Additionally, health providers seeking financial incentives for fulfilling “meaningful use” requirements set by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) must show increased “patient engagement” via portals over time.
In addition to medical imaging capabilities, OneDX offers patient flow tracking from the moment the order is placed through the end of the visit in the imaging center. Using OneDX, physicians can create an electronic order, view the status from the RIS, check for patient cancellations and no-shows, and access images and results from any smartphone.
Imaging centers nationwide use the OneDX platform as a base to offer myriad patient health management features. Steinberg Diagnostic Imaging Medical Center in Las Vegas, for example, integrated the OneDX Physician Patient portal to provide immediate clinical and financial snapshots of patient visits.
“The modular OneDX platform frees imaging centers and other providers with rapidly expanding IT infrastructures from having to buy out-of-the-box systems,” said Kayo Olufowobi, president and CEO of OneDX. “OneDX’s vendor-agnostic platform allows for future developmental expansion. Providers can adapt OneDX as their patients’ demands change.”
The OneDX platform was demonstrated at the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) Technical Exhibitor Showcase (Booth #8514) in Chicago, Nov. 26 - Dec. 1, 2017.
